Forming: WetPrill™

WetprillThe Enersul WetPrill™ sulphur forming process has been a staple in Canadian operations since 1978. The process has been continually improved using in-plant operational development and at a research pilot plant. Enersul's patented WetPrill™ process is used in sulphur facilities around the world.

In the WetPrill™ process, molten sulphur is pumped on to perforated trays that direct the sulphur in narrow streams into an agitated water bath. Pellets form as the sulphur comes in contact with the water. The low thermal conductivity, high specific heat, and long transformation time of sulphur make it necessary to maintain the pellets in suspension for as long as possible, allowing them to harden. This process produces spherical, uniformly sized, low moisture pellets.

The WetPrill™ units produce 1000 tonnes per day. Higher throughput can be achieved with multiple process lines.
