Fines content, friability and moisture content are physical properties which are measured. Chemical purity of the product is also analyzed to ensure the customer receives a product that is within specification. Both sampling and laboratory analysis can be completed by Enersul.

SUDIC
Sulphur Development Institute of Canada.

In 1973 the Sulphur Development Institute of Canada (SUDIC) was inaugurated to investigate new uses for sulphur in North America. As part of the group's focus, SUDIC was asked by the Canadian Industry Sulphur Forming Committee to examine the forming processes available and choose one process (acceptable to shippers and terminal operators) that the industry could adopt. With the aid of Alberta Sulphur Research Ltd. (ASRL), a number of criteria to evaluate the product were identified and the SUDIC Premium Product Specifications emerged.

Out of the more than twenty product types tested, only a few received the SUDIC designation of premium product.

SUDIC was disbanded in the mid eighties but the SUDIC criteria has gained worldwide acceptance and continues to define what industry experts call premium product.
